Refined Admin Dashboard has ten built-in tools, one switch each. This page says what each tool does, which plugins make it step aside, and what it doesn't do. Everything here was read in the code of Refined Admin Dashboard 1.0.24, of 1.0.25 for SVG uploads, Duplicate and Cmd+S to save, and of 1.0.26 for update emails.
How the tools work
- All ten tools start switched off. You turn them on one at a time on the Tools screen (Double Youpï > Tools).
- If a plugin that does the same job is active, the tool shows "Delegated" and stays out of the way. Being active is enough, even with that plugin's own option switched off.
- To move from a plugin to a tool: deactivate the plugin, then turn the tool on and save. While the plugin is active, the tool's switch stays locked.
- The switches travel with the settings profile you export from one site to another.
Duplicate
A "Duplicate" link in your posts, pages and custom post types lists, for people who can edit the original and create that type of content. The copy is a draft, with the content, custom fields and categories of the original, titled "(Copy)", and the person who duplicates it is its author.
It doesn't copy comments, revisions or child items, such as the variations of a WooCommerce product. It doesn't do Rewrite & Republish, bulk copies, or let you choose what gets copied. WooCommerce products keep their own "Duplicate" link.
Steps aside for: Yoast Duplicate Post, Duplicate Page.
SVG uploads
Only administrators can upload SVGs by default. Each SVG uploaded through the media library is cleaned, keeping only known SVG elements and attributes, and the SVGs already in your media library are checked once after you update, if the tool is on. An SVG that gets its colours from a <style> block loses those colours on upload. Keep Safe SVG if you want to choose which roles may upload SVGs from a settings screen.
Steps aside for: Safe SVG, SVG Support.
Hide the login page
The tool moves wp-login.php to an address you choose. For visitors who aren't logged in, the old address and wp-admin answer with a 404, without sending them to the new one. The login, logout, lost password and registration links follow the new address.
The tool does nothing until you save a valid address. It emails the new address to the site's admin email when you turn it on or change the address (if your site can send email), and one line in wp-config.php brings the normal login back:
define( 'DOUBLEYOUPI_HIDE_LOGIN_DISABLE', true );
It doesn't run on multisite. It moves the login page and nothing more: the REST API and XML-RPC stay open.
Steps aside for: WPS Hide Login, Hide My WP Ghost, Solid Security.
Force HTTPS
It redirects HTTP to HTTPS on your pages and in the admin, and rewrites internal http:// links in post content. Set the site address to https:// yourself, in Settings > General. It won't run on a local site. If your site sits behind a proxy or a CDN that handles HTTPS for it, we haven't tested the tool there.
Steps aside for: Really Simple SSL, Really Simple SSL Pro.
Local avatars
Users who can upload media pick their avatar on their profile; everyone else gets their initials. No request goes to gravatar.com from WordPress's avatar functions. The tool doesn't read the avatars stored by Simple Local Avatars.
Steps aside for: Simple Local Avatars, Avatar Privacy, ProfilePress, One User Avatar.
Classic editor
One switch turns off the block editor for every post type, and for widgets. There is no choice per post, per post type or per role.
Steps aside for: Classic Editor, Disable Gutenberg.
Disable comments
It turns comments off everywhere: no form, no Comments menu, and existing comments stay in the database but no longer show. Comments sent straight to wp-comments-post.php are refused. There is no setting per post type.
Steps aside for: Disable Comments.
Update emails
It stops the email WordPress sends when automatic plugin and theme updates all go through. If one fails, the email still comes. WordPress core emails are untouched.
Steps aside for: Easy Updates Manager, Companion Auto Update.
Admin email check
It removes the screen that asks, every few months at login, whether the admin email is still right. It doesn't stop any other email.
Steps aside for: Make Disable Admin Email Verification Prompt, Admin and Site Enhancements (ASE).
Cmd+S to save
Cmd+S on a Mac, Ctrl+S on a PC presses the save button of the settings screen, profile or category in front of you. In the classic editor, it saves the draft, or updates content that is already published; it never publishes a draft. The block editor already has its own shortcut. No plugin makes this tool step aside.
